Australian Victorian State Election 2010

The Victorian State Election will be held on Saturday 27 November 2010.

You can vote either in person at the Australian High Commission New Delhi or by applying for a postal vote. You will need to know which Australian address you are currently enrolled at in order to be issued with the correct ballot papers for your electorate. You can check at www.131vec.com.au or by calling +61 3 9299 0520.

VOTING IN PERSON

Pre-poll voting is possible at the Australian High Commission in New Delhi between 18 and 26 November 2010 (Mondays to Fridays between 9.00am and 4.00pm). Voting is not possible on Election Day at overseas voting centres. By voting early, you may avoid queues and delays. For security purposes, please bring your Australian passport or other photographic identification with you.

POSTAL VOTE

Alternatively, you can apply for a postal vote by going to www.131vec.com.au and printing and completing an “Application for a postal vote” form. Postal vote applications are also available from the Australian High Commission New Delhi. We will accept postal vote applications until 6.00pm on Thursday, 25 November 2010 and ballot papers until 3.30pm on Friday, 26 November 2010. If you opt for a postal vote, apply now so that we can get your ballot papers to you in time.

It is compulsory for all eligible electors to vote. If you do not vote you will be sent an 'apparent failure to vote' notice asking why you did not vote. Please see the Electoral Commission's FAQ for further information on this:
