We share responsibility for a healthy workplace, including encouraging a healthy work/life balance, and zero tolerance of bullying. Genuine access to work/life balance provisions such as flex-time, TOIL and permanent part-time work are important means in achieving this outcome.

The aim of the Working Smarter policy was to introduce and encourage a healthier work/life balance. The department encourages and fosters better prioritisation and time management skills, to streamline work processes and practices and to ensure staff have reasonable access to various forms of leave. The department is committed to providing a workplace that is free from bullying, harassment and discrimination behaviours and a workplace that is fair, flexible, safe and rewarding.  Employers and employees have shared obligations for creating respectful and courteous workplaces. All employees must take reasonable care that they do not adversely affect the health and safety of others. This includes eliminating incidents of bullying, harassment and discrimination.
