VACANCY: COOK / HOUSE MANAGER
HIGH COMMISSIONER’S RESIDENCE
The Australian High Commissioner is seeking a suitably qualified person to fill the position of Cook/ House Manager at his Residence.
The job description and selection criteria which the Interviewing Committee will use to assess applicants’ suitability are attached. Applicants should describe how they meet each of the selection criteria and provide relevant examples and references.
The successful applicant will be offered a two-year contract of employment which may be extended based on performance. Employment would be subject to an initial probation period of three months.
The commencing salary will in the range of Rupees 15,065 to 19,288 per month, depending on skills and experience of successful applicant.

JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Coordinate daily services at the Residence including cooking, cleaning of the Residence and supervising the work of other household staff.
2. Ensure household guests are well looked after. Perform services for the High Commissioner and spouse as required.
3. Day-to-day planning and operation of the Residence kitchen, including menu planning, preparation and presentation of meals for the High Commissioner and family, guests and for official functions.
4. Ensure food is prepared and stored in accordance with the highest standards of hygiene and food safety. Ensure cleanliness in the kitchen area including equipment, utensils and surrounding areas.
5. Supervise the setting of tables, selection of flowers and linens, arrangement of furniture.
6. Other duties as directed.
SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Good customer service skills
2. Good communication skills (English is essential).
3. Excellent organisational skills
4. Excellent culinary skills, including cooking of Western food.
5. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team.
6. Related experience desirable.
Note:
The successful applicant must be willing to work outside regular hours on short notice. This is a live-in position, accommodation will be provided on the Australian High Commission compound.
