The Australian Deputy High Commissioner is seeking a suitably qualified person to fill the position of Cook/ Chef at his Residence.

The job description and selection criteria which will be used to assess applicants’ suitability are attached. Applicants should describe how they meet each of the selection criteria and provide relevant examples and references.

The successful applicant will be offered a contract until February 2016 with a possibility of extension. Employment would be subject to an initial probation period of up to six months.

An attractive salary package will be negotiated on the basis of skills and experience of the successful applicant.

DEPUTY HIGH COMMISSIONER’S RESIDENCE

JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Responsible for all food-related requirements of the Residence kitchen.

2. Day-to-day planning and operation of the Residence kitchen, including menu planning, preparation and presentation of meals for the Deputy High Commissioner and family, guests and for official functions.

3. Ensure food is prepared and stored in accordance with the highest standards of hygiene and food safety.

4. Proper utilization, accountability and inventory of food, beverages and kitchen equipment.

5. Ensure cleanliness in the kitchen area including equipment, utensils and surrounding areas.

6. Other services and duties associated with the position/ additional work in connection with the kitchen operations. Other work as assigned.
