The Australian High Commission, New Delhi, is seeking applications for the position of Defence Business Manager in the Defence section. The job description for the position is attached.
Also attached are 6 selection criteria that the Interviewing Committee will use to assess applicants’ suitability for the position. Applicants must clearly address each of the 6 selection criteria in a written application no longer than 3 pages in length. For each selection criteria, applicants must provide specific examples of relevant experience. Applications that do not specifically address the selection criteria will not be considered. The salary range for this position is Rs 87,499 to Rs 105,548. The commencing salary will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. The package will include annual leave, limited medical reimbursements, Diwali bonus and provident fund provisions.
Subject to the successful completion of a three-month probationary period the successful applicant will be offered a two-year contract of employment. The contract maybe extended subject to agreement between the employer and employee.

Defence Business Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Defence Business Manager’s primary responsibility will be the administrative and financial management of the Defence section, Australian High Commission.
1. Manage the finances for the Defence office, including:
a. Prepare and manage the annual budget
b. Monitor and approve expenditure
c. Process invoice payments
d. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and respond to auditing requests from Department of Defence, Australia
e. Perform financial checks
f. Compile financial reports and returns
2. Manage the Defence section’s records, documentation, electronic files and archiving.
3. Manage the Defence section’s information technology and communications requirements.
4. Provide administrative and financial support to Defence personnel (including Defence students) in India including:
a. Administer personal entitlements, including travel and medical
b. Process reimbursements
c. Coordinate arrival and departure arrangements, including flights, accommodation and removals.
d. Brief incoming and outgoing personnel on processes and entitlements.
5. Draft and execute processes and standard operating procedures for the administration of the office.
6. Provide back-up support to other Defence staff, particularly for the administration of the Defence Cooperation Program and management of office and residential assets, property, equipment and maintenance.
7. Other duties as required by the Defence Adviser and First Secretary Defence, including coordinating visits and assisting with Defence activities and events.
SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Well-developed organizational and administrative skills including demonstrated ability in office management and the management of personnel posting in and out of the High Commission.
2. Demonstrated ability and experience in financial administration. An understanding of Australian Commonwealth and Defence audit regulations and procedures is desirable.
3. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and enhance relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
4. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. An excellent command of English is required.
5. Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently and meet deadlines.
6. Demonstrated ability to utilize the Microsoft suite of products, particularly Excel.
