Office Circular No 12/13 - Vacancy: Public Diplomacy Manager

The Australian High Commission, New Delhi, is seeking applications for the position of Public Diplomacy Manager.
The job description for the position is attached. Also attached are the selection criteria that the Interviewing Committee will use to assess applicants’ suitability for the position. Subject to the successful completion of a three-month probationary period the successful applicant will be offered a two-year contract of employment. The contract maybe extended subject to agreement between the employer and employee.
The salary for this position will be negotiated taking into consideration qualifications and experience.
Only applicants who hold a valid visa with work rights or Person of Indian Origin status will be considered. Prospective applicants are responsible for checking their eligibility for visa and work permits before lodging an application.
The occupant of this position will be required to handle sensitive information. The successful applicant should be able to provide proof of Australian citizenship and either hold a current Australian security clearance to secret level (or above) or be willing and eligible to obtain one.
This is a locally engaged position. Conditions of employment are set by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. No relocation costs or cost of living allowances are payable to successful applicants. Successful applicants living outside India will be responsible for travel to, accommodation in and obtaining working visas for India. The Australian High Commission is unable to assist in this regard.

JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Working to the First Secretary (Public Diplomacy), help develop and implement a coordinated public diplomacy strategy to advance Australia’s interests in India, increase public understanding of Australian policies, and project a positive image of Australia.
2. Coordinate the High Commission’s media events, activities and campaigns, including in support of high level visitors.
3. Develop programs of targeted cultural activities to advance Australia’s public diplomacy objectives and build new audiences for Australia’s public diplomacy.
4. Build productive partnerships and relationships with Indian counterparts across government, the media, the private sector, academic and think tank institutions, and the arts and cultural communities.
5. Manage and expand the High Commission’s social media activities.
6. Assist in the management of the Public Diplomacy Section.
