Vacancy: Visits and Government Relations Manager
The Australian High Commission, New Delhi, is seeking applications for the position of Visits and Government Relations Manager at the Australian High Commission, New Delhi.

Subject to the successful completion of up to a six month probationary period, satisfactory medical check and background verification the successful applicant will be offered a two-year contract of employment, inclusive of the probation period. The contract may be extended subject to agreement between the employer and employee.
The commencing salary will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. The package will include annual leave, limited medical reimbursements, Diwali bonus, provident fund provisions and gratuity provisions when service length is sufficient. The position encompasses a salary range of Rupees 80,000 stepping incrementally up to Rupees 120,000 per month.

About the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)
The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia’s security, enhancing Australia’s prosperity, delivering an effective and high quality overseas aid program and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas.
The department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia’s pursuit of global, regional and bilateral interests.
Key responsibilities of the position include:
1. Coordinate DFAT’s official visit programs through consultation with internal and external stakeholders including:
a. Arrange and coordinate appointments
b. Engage with government and non-government (business, media, NGO representatives)
c. Manage logistical arrangements for visiting delegations
d. Contribute to and manage the preparation of programs and briefing material
2. Assist with the management of the Australian High Commission Direct Aid Program
a. Build relationships with current and potential DAP recipients and respond to community requests for information about the program
b. Administer the DAP program (including approval and funding processes, acquittal of spent funds and reporting)
c. Assist with accountability including visits to project sites
d. Assist in DAP strategy, risk management and other reporting
e. Assist with event management and publicity of DAP program
3. Research support for the political team on Indian political, economic and foreign policy issues.
Qualifications/Experience
• Strong research and analytical skills including relevant academic qualifications.
• Exceptional people skills including:
o Networking and relationship building skills, including over the phone
o Working with diverse areas of the High Commission to deliver complex visit programs under tight timeframes
o Ability to engage with senior government officials, industry representatives and academics
• Self-motivated and proactive attitude to upcoming tasks and opportunities
• Ability to write clearly and succinctly, including both informal and formal correspondence, briefing and report writing
• An excellent command of English is required. Command of Hindi preferred. Basic financial/accountancy literacy preferred.
• Strong administrative and organizational skills, including demonstrated ability in managing events, visiting delegations and/or grant programs
• Attention to detail, ability to manage concurrent projects and competing deadlines.
