VACANCY: TREASURY OFFICE MANAGER & RESEARCH OFFICER -
Expatriate Position

The Australian High Commission is seeking a suitably qualified person to fill the single position of Office Manager and Research Officer for the Treasury Section.
A job description for the position is attached. Also attached are the selection criteria that the Interview Panel will use to assess applicants’ suitability for the position. Applicants must address each of the selection criteria and provide contact details of at least two referees.
Subject to the successful completion of a three month probationary period, the successful applicant will be offered a contract of employment of up to two years. The contract may be extended subject to agreement between the employer and employee.
The standard hours of work for this full-time role are 37.5 hours per week over five days. Applicants interested in part-time employment fulfilling the Office Manager role are also welcome to apply.
Conditions of employment will be negotiated based on the skills and experience of the successful applicant. A monthly salary, standard leave provisions and the opportunity for performance based salary advancement will apply.
The selection panel may also recommend a merit list of applicants who may be approached to temporarily fill the position when the incumbent is absent.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Office Manager (estimated half of time, taking precedence over research role)
1. Carry out the day to day management of the office including handling payments, arranging procurement and financial reporting requirements in accordance with established Treasury and High Commission policies and procedures;
2. Assist the Minister-Counsellor in managing the post’s budget including assisting in preparation of yearly budgets, monitoring expenditure and keeping appropriate financial records;
3. Make travel arrangements for the Minister-Counsellor, Treasury officers and other High Commission staff as directed;
4. Manage the Minister-Counsellor’s diary including making appointments and arranging programs and travel as required;
5. Carry out other administrative duties including record keeping, data management and liaison with Treasury administration in Canberra;
6. Work closely with the Minister-Counsellor and Treasury policy areas in Canberra to prepare and manage programs for visiting missions from or to Australia;
7. Attend relevant meetings and assist in keeping appropriate records of meetings.
Research Officer (estimated half of time, office manager role taking precedence)
8. Contribute to regular economic reporting by monitoring economic press, and attend and report on meetings, workshops or conferences as required.
9. Carry out research and analysis of developments in the Indian economy, as directed by the Minister-Counsellor.
10. Contribute to regular Treasury reporting on the Indian economy and reporting by other sections within the High Commission as directed by the Treasury Representative.
11. Liaise with relevant counterparts in the Indian Government as well as with counterparts in other country missions in New Delhi.
12. Maintain relationships with other key contacts including in the private sector, think tanks and academia.
SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Highly developed organisational and administrative skills; prior office management and financial administration experience are required.
2. Highly developed communication skills; a strong command of English is required.
3. Well developed computer skills including in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and conducting internet-based research.
4. Strong interpersonal, representational and networking skills and an understanding of the roles and structures of India’s key economic agencies would be an advantage.
5. For the research officer role: knowledge of and ability to convey clearly developments in the Indian economy; and tertiary qualifications in economics or a similar discipline such as politics, business or public policy are highly desirable.
