The Australian High Commission, New Delhi, is seeking applications for the position of Social Secretary to the High Commissioner. This position reports directly to the High Commissioner’s Executive Assistant.
The job description for the position is attached. Also attached are the selection
criteria that the Interviewing Committee will use to assess applicants’ suitability for the position. Applicants must address each of the selection criteria.

Subject to the successful completion of a three-month probationary period the
successful applicant will be offered a two-year contract of employment. The contract may be extended subject to agreement between the employer and employee.
The starting salary range is Rs 55,326 to Rs 105,548 per month. The commencing salary will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. The package will include annual leave, limited medical reimbursements, Diwali bonus and provident fund provisions.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Working under the supervision of the High Commissioner’s Executive Assistant:
1. Maintain the High Commissioner’s (HOM) daily and forward program.
2. Facilitate meetings at the highest levels with government, non-government and
private sector organisations.
3. Cultivate and maintain good working relationships and networks of contacts in
the government, non-government and private sectors.
4. Collect, deliver, filter, scan and file HOM’s mail including liaising with HOM’s
Executive Assistant on acceptances/regrets, briefings/CVs required and
responses to correspondence.
5. Respond to and issue invitations on behalf of HOM.
6. Organise and coordinate HOM’s social functions, liaising with staff, external
clients and vendors.
7. Prepare menus, seating plans, place cards and guest lists for all
representational activities held by HOM.
8. Meet and greet HOM’s guests at evening functions held at the Residence.
9. Prepare and maintain records of HOM’s representational activities and events.
10. Maintain an up-to-date database of guest lists and contacts.
11. Maintain HOM’s business cards folder and scan business cards into the
database.
12. Liaise with the Executive Assistant and the Senior Bearer of the residence in
relation to representational functions at the HOM’s Residence.
13. Organise HOM’s domestic and international travel.
14. Other duties as directed.
SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Experience in an executive support or coordination role and highly developed
administrative and support skills.
2. High level organisational, liaison and interpersonal skills, including the ability to
work under pressure in a busy environment and to exercise good judgment.
3. Ability to work with limited supervision and a high degree of initiative directed at achieving results.
4. Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with government organisations, foreign
missions and private sector organisations.
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Hindi.
6. Proficiency in computer software applications, including Microsoft Office.
7. Customer focused and attention to detail.
8. Knowledge of India’s political, social and business environment and awareness of protocol issues.
9. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings for official functions at HOM’s
Residence.
