Indian nationals not eligible for the Work and Holiday visa

Important Notice: Indian nationals not eligible for the Work and Holiday visa

Indian nationals are not eligible for a Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa at this time, as Australia and India do not have a reciprocal Work and Holiday visa arrangement.

The Work and Holiday program is for young adults from eligible countries to have an extended holiday and to work in Australia. Applicants must meet English language requirements and have minimum educational qualifications and partner countries should offer a similar visa for Australians.

Australia is negotiating with 13 countries to establish new Work and Holiday visa arrangements. Access by Indian nationals to this program is subject to the successful conclusion of negotiations between the Australian and Indian governments. Due to the complex nature of these negotiations, these arrangements may take many years to be successfully concluded.

Eligibility details for the subclass 462 visa are available on the Department of Home Affairs website: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/work-holiday-462/first-work-holiday-462
