The Australian High Commission, New Delhi, is inviting applications for the contracted role of Oz Fest Sponsorship and Contracts Officer at the Australian High Commission, New Delhi. This is a contracted positon for six months.

The payment will be made on an hourly rate of INR 790 per hour.

About the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia’s security, enhancing Australia’s prosperity, delivering an effective and high quality overseas aid program and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas. The department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia’s pursuit of global, regional and bilateral interests.

About the Oz Fest program

DFAT delivers a cultural program in a country of strategic significance to Australia each year to raise Australia's profile as an innovative, creative nation and build a contemporary appreciation and understanding of Australia. India was the focus country in 2012 when the Australian High Commission delivered the highly successful first edition of Oz Fest. We aim to build on the success of the 2012 program by delivering a festival to celebrate Australian culture and creativity in India in 2018-2019.

The second edition of Oz Fest will build on the already strong trade and strategic connections between Australia and India. The festival will involve a series of targeted events across India from October 2018 to March 2019.

About the Position

The position is responsible for attracting, securing and integrating sponsorship to support effective delivery of Oz Fest 2018. The position will represent the Australian High Commission, in consultation with Australian and Indian business and other potential partners, to find mutually beneficial opportunities to participate in the Oz Fest program.

The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan and co-ordinate all aspects of Oz Fest sponsorship, involving coordination of high-level internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop and manage stakeholder expectations
  • Attract and negotiate large-scale Oz Fest sponsorship from a wide and diverse range of sponsors
  • Manage sponsorship processes in accordance with DFAT’s policies and procedures, including approaches to sponsors, timely follow-up, negotiations of terms and in kind sponsorship, branding management, contract preparation and execution, finance estimates, cost-recovery, relationship management, and record-keeping
  • Coordinate meetings and provide regular updates to the Oz Fest Steering Committee and other key stakeholders on sponsorship commitments and implications for Oz Fest activities contingent on sponsorship
  • Coordinate and represent the High Commission at key stakeholder meetings and events
  • Prepare high quality briefings and program updates, and ensure sponsorship commitments are delivered and incorporated into event planning
  • Ensure sponsorship branding and commitments are integrated into the Oz Fest communications strategy through close coordination with the Media and Advocacy team.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience in attracting, securing and integrating sponsorship into large-scale public relations campaigns, or the ability to develop skills in this area
  • Proven capacity to manage complex projects, and internal and external multi-stakeholder relationships
  • Sound judgment and proven ability to identify and manage risk
  • Well-developed interpersonal and negotiation skills including the ability to build strong relations with key stakeholders
  • Ability to coordinate productive team relationships and facilitate open communications with colleagues
  • Right/ability to work and live in India.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Proven capacity to manage complex projects, and internal and external multi-stakeholder relationships
  2. Sound judgment and proven ability to identify and manage risk, including contract management
  3. Well-developed interpersonal and negotiation skills including the ability to build strong relations with key stakeholders
  4. Superior ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
  5. Experience in attracting, securing and integrating sponsorship into large-scale public relations campaigns, including integrating sponsorship messaging and requirements into communications strategies is desirable.
  6. Experience working with the Australian Government is desirable.
