The Australian High Commission, New Delhi, is seeking applications for the position of Security Team Coordinator at the Australian High Commission, New Delhi.

Subject to the successful completion of up to a six month probationary period, satisfactory medical check and background verification, the successful applicant will be offered a two-year contract of employment, inclusive of the probation period. The contract may be extended subject to agreement between the employer and employee.

The commencing salary will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. The package will include annual leave, limited medical reimbursements, Diwali bonus, provident fund provisions and gratuity provisions when service length is sufficient. The position encompasses a starting salary of Rs 44,080 per month.

About the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)

The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia’s security, enhancing Australia’s prosperity, delivering an effective and high quality overseas aid program and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas.

The department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia’s pursuit of global, regional and bilateral interests.

About the Position

This role supports and reports directly to the Australian High Commission, Locally Engaged Security Manager.

The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
• Undertake duties of the Security Manager during periods of absence.

• Supervise the day to day management of the Contract Security guard force, including:
o Prepare regular duty rosters, ensuring appropriate coverage at all key guard stations, and provide them to the security team
o Verify guards’ timesheets and approve them for payment.
o Conduct out of hours checks, audit overtime worked and retain records of shifts audit purposes

• Manage compound security functions and the reception as the Team Leader, including::
o Oversee the issuance of temporary access cards to staff and visitors,
o Coordinate CCTV monitoring and reporting,
o Maintain team readiness for an Emergency and Incident response,
o Assist in the implementation of physical and operational security upgrades at AHC properties; and
o Provide security management capacity during AHC events and high profile visits.


• Provide leadership and decision-making capability for routine queries related to compound security matters.

• Other duties as notified by the Security Manager and AHC management.

Duties after Office Hours

• After office hours and in accordance with shift rosters, undertake the following:
o Receive and answer telephone calls, respond to general enquiries and refer emergency matters to the appropriate officer.

o Screen after hours visa enquiries, referring emergency matters to the appropriate officer.
o Receive and screen urgent correspondence after hours and decide on appropriate action.

Qualifications/Experience

1. Completion of a graduate level is required.

2. Progressive levels of responsibility in Security management. Policing, military or Embassy experience viewed favorably.

3. High level of written and spoken Hindi and English. Other languages considered advantageous.

4. Sound information technology skills and an understanding of security systems, programs and policies.

5. High level of flexibility and willingness to work outside regular hours at short notice.

6. A driver’s license is essential.

SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Demonstrated high levels of personal and professional responsibility in a security related role and the ability to manage staff in an operational environment, including making operational decisions at short notice.

2. Experience with physical security measures and equipment. Proven experience in relation to VIP security arrangements, dealing with Police and managing security at events and functions.

3. Competence in the use of personal computers, with a good ability to correspond by e-mail and use Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to write concisely and accurately.

4. Good interpersonal and communications skills ability to judge and make recommendations.

5. An ability to be on call and be available for additional working hours during periods of high workload.
